Headlight Correction

Since around 1999 headlights changed from glass to plastic. This was for a few reasons, one was cost. Plastic headlights were cheaper and easier to make. Another reason is because they stood up to an impact better than glass, for example if a stone hit a glass headlight it would break far easier than a plastic one. The third reason is pedestrian impact. Glass headlights would not break down easily on impact and could cause more harm in the event of pedestrian impact.

Over time headlights can become yellowed or oxidised. The U.V layer that was put on to protect the headlights from factory has deteriorated. Generally this happens after eight years or so, some cars a bit longer. But eight years is quite common in my experience. In some cases the oxidation is that bad, that the headlights can fail an M.O.T, this is due to the light not being able to protrude through the lens in the correct beam pattern. Instead the light is being scattered back into the light unit causing the incorrect pattern itself.

Premier Shine can restore your headlights to their former glory and have been doing so since 2014. We’ll remove the oxidised layer, restore the clarity back the lens and apply a new protective coating. We are so confident we can improve your headlights, that we offer a ‘no improvement, no fee’ policy!
