Ceramic Coatings

What is a Ceramic coating?

A Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to the surface at a molecular level. Providing a protective shield above the clear coat (lacquer)

Automotive definition, a ceramic coating is a detailing product used to protect the exterior surfaces from common blemish causing materials. Primarily composed of silica (SiO2 / Silicon Oxide) and / or titanium dioxide (TiO2), these two substances form a covalent bond that is hydrophobic in nature and forms a nano-ceramic shield above the vehicle’s clear coat.

It utilises nano-technology to fill minor cracks or imperfections on a porous (filled with microscopic holes) and solid materials. When the coating fills those imperfections, it then provides an exceptionally flat and hard layer of protection. Ceramic coatings are more permanent and won’t fade or disappear in weeks or months. Unlike most other forms of exterior protection such as wax or sealants etc, Ceramic Coatings (when applied by a professional) will last years!

A ceramic coating enhances the paintwork of your vehicle, making it look better than when you bought it and will keep it looking that way for the duration of the coating. It adds a protective barrier to protect against UV rays, chemical stains, water spotting and help reduce scratches, marring and swirls.

A car with ceramic coating is also easier to clean, won’t need polishing or waxing and a simple wash can reset the coating! You can even add sacrificial layers over the top such as Aqua coat sealants (sealant applied to wet vehicle and then rinsed off)

Benefits recap.

  • Super Shiny

  • Protective barrier

  • Hydrophobic layer

  • Much easier to clean

  • Won’t need cleaning as much
